Need another way to help move the needle of environmental sustainability? Love composting?
Do we have great news for you. After every harvest in a Fieldhouse, two things typically happen.
- You get to eat delicious greens
- In your tray remains a now compostable grow pad
This grow pad is a lovely little leftover from your harvest. Grip and lift on the remaining stems, gently pull up on the root mat and separate it from the top grow tray with holes. Peeking underneath, you’ll be able to clearly see the beautifully elegant root structure that developed within the coir – the same roots that fed your greens with the water supply they needed.
For those users with home composting systems – these grow pads work great as they contain healthy, rich organic material for future use in the garden.
And even if you don’t have a garden, many cities run programs that compost leftover food scraps and yard waste. At Leath, composting is highly encouraged, as it ensures your Fieldhouse leftovers can have a healthy second life cycle in the beautiful growth of another living thing.
Here’s to the next harvest!
